ABOUT

Travis Kane was raised in Ridgefield, Washington and currently resides in The Dalles, Oregon, providing lessons and new programming at The Dalles Country Club and Indian Creek Golf Course.

Celebrating his 29th season in the golf industry, Travis has been a PGA member for sixteen years. He also has American Development Model (ADM) certifications, is an Operation 36® Coach and a SNAG® Golf Instructor - enhancing his ability to teach golf to beginners.

Over his career, he has created many new golfers, enhanced the ability of many established players and created many programs and events for all golfing abilities throughout the continental United States.

When asked about his coaching philosophy, Travis says, "anyone can enjoy playing golf.  We start by mastering the fundamentals of the golf swing and work our way from there.  Each player is unique and there is no one way to teach the game to everyone.  The student and I must be able to communicate effectively together to reach the student’s goal(s)”.

TESTIMONIALS

“My son has taken golf lessons from Travis Kane for about 3 years. Travis was his first instructor and made a big impact on him. Some of the things he enjoyed the most were step by step instructions, and not feeling rushed into learning everything at once. Travis also has an amazing connection with the youth, always making them feel welcome, and comfortable. Travis knows how to balance teaching and being stern while allowing the kids to also have fun. He brought out the best in my son and has given him the foundation he needs to now become part of his high school golf team! We will never forget how great it was playing golf with Travis and how it all started. He will be missed!”

“Travis Kane, PGA (I call him TK) is a golf professional and coach that I like to call a friend. Ever since becoming a pro, I know that TK has sought to make a difference in the lives (and games) of those he coaches and leads. As a junior, he admired those who invested in him and his game, so he simply seeks to do the same now that he is the PGA professional. Further, TK sees his role as a suite of opportunities to help his students:

“hit more good shots, fewer bad shots;”

“build deeper friendships, make new ones;”

“shoot overall lower scores” and get better

With his significant experience from Southwest WA, to Illinois, to Central OR and more, TK is also a skilled communicator, with high capacity to engage golfers of all ages and abilities through his wit, personality and similar.”

“Travis brings a fun and practical approach to golf instruction. Having worked with Travis for a number of years, it is clear that his number one objective, for all his clientele, is to improve their personal progress as a player. As both a student of the game and a successful professional, he possesses a unique ability to differentiate between improving the effectiveness of a golf swing and merely improving it on an aesthetic level. Travis prioritizes on the areas that will have the greatest impact to your game - the areas that will see you posting lower numbers. Travis comprehends not only what you are doing incorrectly but why you are doing it and offers simple and effective solutions which make sense to the new and seasoned golfer.

He has a ‘coaches eye’ which is difficult to achieve. This important coaching asset provides simple but effective solutions resulting in noticeable differences which can immediately improve your game. Travis’s relaxed and amiable coaching style is a great fit for any golfer who wants to improve and have fun doing it.”

“We have been working with Travis for the past several years. Our son started with junior golf camps led by Travis. Travis’ coaching and excitement for the game rubbed off on our son, and he joined Jr. PGA, continuing his work with Travis. As our son’s interest grew (and his dad was already a golfer), I decided to take ladies lessons from Travis as well. Experiencing golf with Travis as both the parent of a golfer, and a beginning golfer myself, I can speak to his patience, dedication, ability to explain things multiple ways, and his enthusiasm that makes golf feel accessible for everyone. Because of Travis, we have a lifelong family activity to participate in together.”
